Exclusive: Deluxe floorboards made of regional Douglas fir

Noble softwood for a purist living style

We have selected two particularly fine softwoods for the production of our Château by adler castle floorboards: Here we present our Douglas fir plank. Our Douglas fir comes from our local forests in southern Germany.

The story behind the local Douglas fir is quite interesting: The natural Douglas fir habitat is in the West of North America, where it grows on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains and also in the Cascades along the Sierra Nevada, extending down to Mexico. In the 19th Century, Scottish Botanist David Douglas introduced the tree (named after him) to Kew Gardens in London. The Douglas fir has since then been cultivated in Central Europe also. It is found in Germany predominantly in the Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria.

The Douglas fir is harder than the Larch, has a finer, more reddish colour, wider growth rings and with a larger pattern of knots. We will texture the Douglas fir also by emphasising the harder growth rings. This will render it even more resistant to wear.

We can offer the Douglas fir Deluxe floorboards with 2 different surfaces: with their natural reddish tone or treated to appear white, allowing the attractive wide and long floorboards to match interior styles of any colour scheme.

Please note: Pictures are not binding, since they can only approximate the actual colour and texture of the parquet. Wood is a natural product. Surface colour and texture depend on the specific characteristics of the wood and the unique properties of each tree.
